Hello friends and family!
The invitations have finally gone out, and it's hard to
believe that our wedding is rapidly approaching.
Here, in a nutshell, is the stuff you need to know
to plan your relaxing weekend in the woods:
- We have set aside most of the rooms at Lake Quinault
Lodge for both Friday and Saturday nights (we encourage you to stay both
nights if you can, and Sunday too if you like). To make reservations at
the Lodge please call the lodge's local direct number at (360) 288-2900,
not the toll-free number (sorry!). You will need to mention
that you are part of the Werlin/Engstrom wedding. Their website, www.visitlakequinault.com, will explain the different types of rooms, but their
online reservation system is not up and running for wedding parties.
- Lakeside camping nearby the lodge can also be
arranged. Please email us if you are interested in that option.
- If you are arriving into Portland before Friday
and need accomodations, we have a room block rate at the Mark Spencer Hotel,
www.markspencer.com (800) 548-3934, in downtown portland, across the street
from Powell's Books. Please mention the Werlin/Engstrom wedding if you
choose to book there. We have listed a bunch of other Portland lodging
options on our site too, as well as Seattle hotels.
- We imagine many of you out-of-towners will choose
to rent a car. However, we would like to encourage carpooling as much as
possible. If you are not renting a car and need a ride out to the Lodge,
or if you have extra room in your car and would be willing to take someone
along, please let us know and we will try to get you in touch with other
carpoolers.
- Several group excursions are being organized
for Sunday morning and early afternoon (we understand many of you will
need to return to civilization by Sunday night). Possible outings include
a mountain hike, beachcombing, a walk in the rainforest, or a visit to
the hotsprings. If you have an interest in one of these activities, please
email us so we know how much interest there is.
- Olympic Peninsula weather is highly unpredictable.
Late August/early September is historically dry and in the upper 70s during
the day, but cooler weather and rain are not out of the question. Bring
a swimming suit and a rain jacket.
We will update this list as need arises. Let
us know how we can help.
We can't wait to see you!
